Students performed the poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost at the December 1st Honors Assembly.
Language Arts. We will be finishing Great Minds unit 1- A Great Heart this week and next. As a culmination activity students will write an in-class essay on the figurative and literal meaning of a great heart. Students will also have a vocabulary test. I will know the timing for these events by Wednesday and students will place the dates in their homework planner. We will be finishing Love That Dog by Sharon Creech this week. Students enjoyed this book very much and the entire unit on poetry has been super!
Math. Module 3, lessons 31 – 35. Division. Interpret word problems, finding whole number quotients and remainders to solve one-step division word problems with larger divisors of 6, 7, 8, and 9. Connection of the area model of division to long division algorithm with divisors of 6, 7, 8, and 9.
Multiplication. We begin mulitiplication of two-digit by two-digit numbers using area models and tape diagrams. Transition from four partial products to the standard algorithm.
Note: End of Module 3 exam on December 12.
Science. Earth Science on Tuesday and Wednesday (possibly Thursday) with Mrs. Kearns. Assignments will be in the homework planner.
Social Studies. Wrap up California’s four regions (some students need to complete their physical features map).
Health. Injury Prevention and Safety. Ability to use refusal skills in risky situations, effective conflict resolution technique with others.
Computer Lab. "Hour of Code" this week and next.
