October 30 – November 3, 2017

Monday.  Several pieces of printed material go home for parents to read, sign and return. 
1.     School survey
2.     Field Trip to Olivas Adobe
3.     Best Foot Forward (Ballroom Dance) permission slip.
Please sign and return the paperwork at your earliest convenience.

Tuesday.  Halloween Parade at 8:15.  After the parade we will have a brunch outside of the classroom.  Thank you for signing up to food items.  There are still a few items needed.

Friday.  I have several fall conferences throughout the day.  I am hoping to hold them in the day care room.  I will let you know as soon as I get permission to use a room.  Plan to be at school several minutes before your conference time as it takes five minutes to get there after signing in at the front desk.  Conferences during the week of November 6 – 10 will be held in room 26.

Friday, November 10.  No School

Thanksgiving Break.  November  20 – 24.

Curriculum.

ELA.  Love that Dog.  Writing a summary and the elements of poetry.  Fluency reading and different styles of poems.  Several poems used this week.

Math.  Represent and solve division problems requiring decomposing a remainder in the tens, and finding whole number quotients and remainders.  Students explain remainders by using place value understanding and area models.  Later in the week students find factor pairs for numbers to 100, and use understanding of factors to define prime and composite numbers.  Associative property is used to test for factors and observe patterns. 

Science.  Electromagnets.

Social Studies.  California’s four regions.


Health.  Finish studying the heart.
