WELCOME BACK!

January 16th is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  There will be no school.

Language Arts.  Reading and Writing from the Extreme Settings Great Minds program.   This week we continue to explore the poetry of Robert Frost.  Students will compare poems and art works in both writing and discussions that focus on setting.  We will be exploring poetry with the works of Robert Frost.   Poems include, “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowing Evening,” “Dust of Snow,” and the architectural setting of Fallingwater by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Eureka Math:   We are moving through Module 4 by combining some lessons and lots of in-class practice with building and measuring angles.  There will be a Mid-Module quiz on Wednesday.  We were actually ready for this quiz before winter break!   We will review on Monday and Tuesday while moving forward in the module as each lesson builds on the other.  Monday and Tuesday reviews will  be included in the new lessons taught.

Science.  Soils, Rocks, and Landforms:  Erosion and Deposition.  Brief review of chemical reactions.  Mapping earth’s surface.  Building a topographic map.

Social Studies.  Finishing California's four regions.  Students will create a map of the four regions on Friday – weather permitting.
