September 19 - 23, 2016

Monday a.m. is psychomotor.  Every Monday morning from 8:10 - 9:10 students will be working with coaches and parent volunteers on the yard to fine tune physical skills such as movement, coordination, manipulation, dexterity, grace, strength, and speed.  If you would like to volunteer for psychomotor show up tomorrow morning on the yard ready for action!  We need parent volunteers.  Please consider volunteering for this activity.

Language Arts.  This week we will be reading a short story in our anthology book and finishing the vocabulary from Frindle.  There will be a Frindle vocabulary quiz on Thursday.  Complete review on Wednesday.

Reading:  Students should be reading 4 hours or more each week.  Help your child to find worthwhile reading materials that he/she will enjoy reading.  Students can take Accelerated Reader tests each day in class or at home until 3:30 p.m.

Math.  Eureka Math will continue in Module 1 with lessons 16 - 21.  We will have a short quiz that covers lessons 11 - 16 on Wednesday.

Writing:  Continuation of the narrative writing process.  Students will be writing a draft of their narrative this week.

Social Studies:  Continue Unit 1, emphasizing absolute location.

Science:   We will finish the scientific method on Monday and on Tuesday begin studying the first of three units.  We will begin with Earth Science.

Heath:  Safety measures at home and school, behavior management, bullying and harassment.  Students will be working in teams to read and discuss from our Health book.

Physical Education:  Psychomotor on Monday a.m.,  physical education with Coach Lois on Wednesday.  Running each a.m.   Wear running shoes each day.  Please send your child with an old, unwanted hand towel to use in the classroom and on the yard for exercises with Mrs. Hassig as an additional p.e. class when time allows.

The class schedule is finalized.  I am looking for volunteers in the classroom.  If you would truly like to make a commitment to volunteering on a weekly basis, please email me with the time that you are available.  We especially need volunteers during the first hour in the morning, after recess or from 1 - 2 p.m.  There are exceptions to each day due to out of class activities.  Email me with your availability.
